Murray Wins 1st Atp Title

British Number 1 Andy Murray won the 1st title of his career, in San Jose 2006, Murray went into the event with a big reputation having won the US Open Junior title in 2004, but few expected to Scot to win in San Jose at the age of just 18. Murray reached the Semi Finals with the minimum of fuss where he met the former world number 1 Andy Roddick. Murray came through in tight sets against the American winning the match 7-5 7-5 to seal his place in the final. In the Final Murray face Lleyton Hewitt who was a 2 time former Grand Slam Champion and world number 1, Hewitt appeared to be well on top as he raced through the 1st set 6-2. Murray to his credit battled back to win the 2nd set 6-1 and level the match at 1 set all, the Scot then managed to win the final set on a tiebreaker to seal a 2-6 6-1 7-6 victory and secure the 1st ATP title of his career.
