Ranking the 2010 Big Ten Football Recruiting Classes

With National Signing Day (finally) over, it's time to look back on the Big Ten recruiting classes to see how each team fared. Frankly, I don't put much stock into the "star" system that is used by almost all of the top recruiting websites. If a recruit is looked at by Florida, Alabama, Texas, or USC, he is automatically handed four or more stars, skewing the "star" ranking system. Many teams, such as Iowa and Boise State, develop talent and turn two star recruits into big time players.

For this reason, I will be ranking the classes by using a combination of how well a team met its needs and star rating. Teams that recruit players that they can develop should be rewarded more than teams that look just at star ratings. But even with my atypical ranking system, there aren't many surprises at the top of the rankings.
