National Signing Day 2010: Stanford Loses Top LB Recruit Zumwalt To UCLA

Jason Figueiredo@sportschatterCorrespondent IFebruary 3, 2010

After giving Stanford a soft verbal late last year, rumors began to surface that four-star recruit Jordan Zumwalt may decide to stay close to home.

Last week when asked about his commitment to Stanford, Zumwalt responded with “I’m still committed to Stanford right now, but I’m not saying anything more about that,”

Jordan made the whispering official this morning when he decided to stay in Southern California and play for the UCLA Bruins.

A tall, rangy linebacker, Zumwalt hits hard and has the perfect frame to grow into a recognizable force over the middle. His lack of speed had been his one knock but can be overlooked due to his extreme toughness.

UCLA's lack of depth in this position forced them to push a little harder towards Zumwalt and he responded.

UCLA also snatched five-star defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa , propelling their 2010 signing class up towards the top of the nation's rankings.
