National Signing Day 2010: JR "Ego" Ferguson Adds to LSU Tigers' Riches

Bryan KellySenior Analyst IFebruary 3, 2010

The good feelings for LSU continued on signing day when defensive end J.R. "Ego" Ferguson committed to the Tigers over offers from Notre Dame, Cal, Florida State, and Maryland, among others.

Ferguson is a top-50 player who traveled across the country during his recruitment, adding South Bend, Norman, and Baton Rouge to a long list of potential settlements.

The No. 6 overall defensive end to Rivals, Ferguson could bulk up and move inside or use his natural speed and ranginess to bull-rush passers.

The Tigers are refocusing on the defensive line like never before, having added JC Copeland, a Tennessee commit, as well as Jordan Allen and Justin Maclin, who have yet to send in their letters of intent.

A refurbished and aggressive defensive line could be what the Tigers needed after losing safety Chad Jones early to the draft. Games are won or lost on the line, and nowhere is that more true than in the SEC.
