Nalbandian and Philippoussis Suffer The Same Fate

David Nalbandian and Mark Philippoussis both suffered the same fate, both men reached the final of Wimbledon on to fall short at the final hurdle. Nalbandian reached the final in 2002 in what was the 1st Grass Court tournament of his career but he lost to Hewitt in straight sets 6-1 6-3 6-2. The following year the Argentine reached the 4th round but was beaten by the home favourite Tim Henmanin 4 tight sets. That same year Australian Mark Philippoussis reached the final at SW19 but lost to Roger Federer 7-6 6-2 7-6. However the following year Philippoussis lost in 4 sets to Henman in the 4th round as well. Henman himself never managed to win Wimbledon, but he reached the Semi finals 4 times in 1998, 1999 2000 and 2001. On each occasion the Englishman lost out to the eventual winner, Pete Sampras in 1998 and 99 Goran Ivanisevic in 2001 and Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.
