Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player to ever live.  He recently has added sweet 16 under his belt, and the way he is playing that number will increase in 2010. If Federer is the greatest tennis player ever, what does that make the Spaniard Rafael Nadal?

I am not making an argument that Rafa is the greatest tennis player ever to live.  My point is that you can not say the name Roger Federer and somewhere in the back of your mind not think of Rafael Nadal.  He is the only player on tour that believes and knows he can beat Roger Federer everytime that they step on any surface.  Rafa has done it on the biggest stages and on all the surfaces.  He is the only player that I think Roger fears.  It may not be Rafa that Roger fears, but it is certainly a fear of losing his edge and his confidence on a tennis court when Rafa is across the net.

I will not make any execuses for Rafael Nadal who has recently dropped to #4 in the world.  Injuries, lack of confidence, personal issues are all a part of an athletes career, and something he will have to overcome.  I believe we will see the greatest rivalry in tennis again in 2010.   Can Rafael Nadal beat the greatest tennis player ever to walk the earth again?  We will see in 2010.  I look forward to what the year has to offer on the ATP and WTA.
