Tennessee Vols Football: National Signing Day Primer

So, so, SO much has been written and said about Tennessee in the last two weeks. And chances are you wont see anything new in this story.

But with just one day remaining until National Signing Day you need to know exactly where Tennessee stands with recruits.

Lucky for you, that's why I write about our beloved Vols.

In the three short weeks since Derek Dooley has taken control of a quickly sinking Big Orange boat, things have turned out much better than expected.

According to the news that has leaked out of Knoxville (a much rarer occurence under Dooley the Sabanite as compared to the loose-lipped Kiffin regime), things are actually going quite swimingly.

Sure there's that issue of needing a defensive coaching staff, but the staff that is in place, including two Kiffin holdovers (Jim Chaney and Lance Thompson) is definitely holding their own in the SEC recruiting wars.

A team that plummetted from No. 5 to No. 17 in the rivals.com recruiting rankings in the days immediately following Kiffin's abrupt departure-or backstabbing-weasel job as I like to call it-has quickly risen to No. 7 in those same rankings.

Kiffin is doing his best to raid some of the guys that made that possible (former DB's coach Willie Mack Garza and three recruits that have taken visits to USC), but there's reason to believe that Tennessee will finish this class in the top 10.

Over the next few pages I will get you ready for National Signing Day by recapping the current commitments, enrollees, and potential signees that may or may not sign on that dotted line tomorrow.
