It's semi-official. Randy Moss, Wide receiver for the New England Patriots, will make his NASCAR debut as an owner on July 19th at Kentucky Speedway's Built Ford Tough 225.
An official announcement may be forthcoming in Daytona next week.
The Boston Herald's David Exum reports un-named sources indicate that Moss' team will break it's maiden with an established Sprint Cup star at the wheel for Friday night's race under the lights.
Randy Moss is a big fan of NASCAR racing and is involved in NASCAR's diversity program as Goodwill Ambassador for the Urban Youth Racing School.
Rumors have been rampant since news was leaked in April that Moss had bought into Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, a well established Chevrolet Silverado team originating in Hennesey, OK and now racing full time out of the Statesville, N.C. area.
Moss' uniform number No. 81 will adorn the Silverado and the odds are that the mystery driver will come from a Chevrolet Sprint Cup team in the Chase. Clint Bowyer has a win in the No. 46 Morgan-Dollar Silverado at Texas in 2006.
Morgan-Dollar Motorsports has been the driver development team for Chevrolet since merging with DEI-Ginn Racing in 2006 and has employed numerous top Sprint Cup drivers throughout it's history and is using Regan Smith, Aric Almirola, A.J. Allmindinger, Erin Crocker, Landon Cassill and Scott Speed as development drivers carrying Red Bull and Go Daddy as sponsors for the 2008 season.

Don't forget Aikman and Staubach ... they're done or mostly done with the No.96 now.

Isn't Jim Harbaugh part-owner of a team?

L.J.
Quick note - Randy Moss became an Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) Goodwill Ambassador solely because of his relationship with Anthony Martin the founder of the UYRS. This relationship was put in place long before Randy ever even thought about a NASCAR team. It is probably safe to say that Randy's interest in NASCAR grew because of UYRS. He has been a supporter of Anthony & UYRS for a while know and has been a speaker at UYRS events.
UYRS stands on it's own and is not a NASCAR program, so Randy did not participate in a NASCAR Diversity program, not through UYRS anyway.

Semantics Mr. Ortiz, semantics.
Randy Moss is URYS's goodwill ambassador. Randy Moss is active in NASCAR and NASCAR throws money UYRS's way as part of it's diversity program.
Therefor Moss IS involved with the diversity program as NASCAR sponsors UYRS as does Sprint Communications through the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

I personally think that Randy Moss doesn't need any more money but it's good to know that NASCAR is being noticed by other athletes and since i'm also a Huge football fan and Randy Moss was my first ever football jersey fro the Vikings i think he's made a smart choice and that only time will tell

Heard the rumor back in April, and then it die. Glad it going to happen, with Randy Moss buying majority of Morgan-Dollar Racing. Smart investment, getting into Craftsman's. Easier to build yourself to move up to either Nationwide or Nextel.
