June 26, 2008 is the day that Chicago Bulls fans can mark their calendars and begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. By drafting Chicago native Derrick Rose the Bulls now have a leader and a pure point guard. Two things that were missing from last year's team.

Last year, the Bulls posted 33 wins in a season that saw the people of Chicago grow to hate Ben Wallace and coach Scott Skiles getting fired at mid season. It was a very trying season for the Bullies, but this year, I believe that Mr. Rose will bring back the buzz that Michael Jordan once brought to the United Center.

Drafting Derrick was the right pick not only because he is from Chicago but more importantly because he is a leader on the court and has tremendous court vision that NBA scouts compare to a Jason Kidd or Steve Nash. Derrick was also the right pick because he has the speed, size, and strength to come into the NBA and be an instant success for Chicago.

Derrick Rose will be a success because he is a pure point guard who will be able to penetrate the basket, break down the defense. And in the end, finish strong to the basket or kick it out to Luol Deng or Ben Gordon for an open jump shot.

Before I go further let's look back to the 2006-'07 season where they had Kirk Hinrich, an average PG at best. That year, Captain Kirk averaged six assists a game. And the Bulls ran an offense where they drove to the lane then passed it out to a shooter.

That year the Bulls won 49 games behind Hinrich. Not to down play Kirk's season, but I think that Rose will just flat out play Kirk Hinrich. Rose is a better all around athlete and will lead the Bulls back to the playoffs with his unselfish style of play.

While I say this, it doesn't mean Derrick will be an overnight success. It means that when it is all said and done Mr. Rose will have the city of Chicago all to his own because he will own the NBA. This year I can see the Bulls going around .500 and making the playoffs.

Knowing how far they will go will be seen but the future for the Bulls is very bright with soon-to-be All-Star Derrick Rose leading the way.

  1. I agree with most of what you say. But please do not give up on Hinrich. I think he and Rose could be awesome together. The guy to get rid of is Gordon. He doesn't play any defense and he wants too much money. Trade him for a PF, and watch this team win 55 games.

    1. I agree. Hinrich was decent, and should team up well with Rose. What a great duo that should be.

  2. Jack What power foward is out there this year? would it happen before the season or would it be durring the season around the drade deadline?

  3. This team won 49 games 2 years ago and almost everyone from that team is on this team's current roster. Why is it hard to imagine them winning close to 50 games this year? Also Elton Brand is out there and Paxson needs to trade some of his pieces to get him back here. With the addition of Rose, Hinrich is expendable. I like keeping Gordon and playing him off the bench. Also his contract will make it hard to move bec

  4. I think the Rookie of the Year race is going to be headed by Rose and Oden. Should be fun to watch.

  5. They could try and swap Gordon for Brand - he's going to leave in FA anyway, and Gordon might seem better than getting nothing. David Lee is supposed to be available, not sure I really like him...

I think the main thing that needs to happen is the Bulls need to get on the phone and see who might be willing to offer someone good for Gordon. Of course, if no one is willing to offer anyone useful for him, that says something about the rest of the league's opinion of his real value. If nothing else, if no one steps up, the Bulls should be able to resign him for much less than he wants... assuming they want to.

  6. i think the bulls should wait and see if michael redd become aavaible? maybe trade hinrich and gordon or noconi or tyrus and pick up one of the best shooting guards in the league?? what do you al think about that trade?
