Arsenal are closing in on the signing of a talented youngster from Werder Bremen named Amaury Bischoff. The 20-year-old will link up with the team in the coming few days.
Bischoff is a defensive midfielder who is comfortable using both his feet and is somewhat in the mould of recently departed Mathieu Flamini. He is of French nationality but has qualified to play for Portugal.
Arsenal had reportedly enquired about the player six months ago, but have firmed up their interest in the summer.
Bischoff has himself stated to DNA (a news network in France) that he is only waiting for Arsene Wenger to return from Switzerland to pen his deal with Arsenal. Here's what he had to say about his impending deal:
“There are some details left to finalize, and then we wait for Arsene Wenger to return from Switzerland... I hope to sign within the next days.”
Bischoff has just returned from a long-term injury and added, “Arsenal is a notch above Bremen. I have returned from a long period without playing, I think now is the time to change my surroundings.”
Also, Samir Nasri's deal might be announced in a couple of days (July 1, to be precise) as both clubs have reportedly agreed to announce on said date.
The signings seem to be coming thick and fast for Arsenal fans, and I can only hope that these signings are quality and that they will add some substance to the existing squad.
