Troy State had 488 total yards against the Georgia Bulldogs today. Georgia had a total of 465 yards. Even though Georgia won 44-34, it feels like we actually lost due to the high yardage by the Trojans. I would like to see Georgia recruit harder on the defensive side of the ball, practice harder and execute better on gameday and get back to the Junkyard Dawg Defense days. Coach Richt should strongly consider replacing his defensive coordinator at the end of this year.
I did learn that Georgia turned the ball over on its first two possessions of the game. Knowshon Moreno fumbled on his first run at the Georgia 26. This turned into a field goal for Troy. On Georgia's next possession, Brannan Southerland caught a pass from Stafford then fumbled it on the Georgia 36. The Bulldog defense held the Trojans here and got the ball back on their 20 after the punt and touchback.
On the next play, Moreno ran for 80 yards for the Georgia TD.
The Bulldogs ended the first half on a good note by scoring two back-to-back TD's.
In the 3rd Quarter Matthew Stafford, on 1st and 10 at the Troy 11, threw an interception which was caught for a touchback. A pass at this point was a very bad idea. Especially when the running game was churning up the yards.
On Georgia's next possession we made it down to the Troy 29 with solid run, but on 4 and 1 we decide to kick a field instead of going for the 1st down.
