Colin Peek wasn't supposed to need that much more publicity. He made a cover of Sports Illustrated with his nice over the shoulder touchdown grab. He's the starting tight end on a national championship team, and the story of how his grandfather played in the Rose Bowl also was told on national television.

Yet pro scouts still didn't have him that high a pick in the simulated drafts.

So what's a guy to do? How about work your butt of in the Senior Bowl and the practices, showing the scouts what Nick Saban already knows, which is that he can do it all.

People watching practice say that Peek is peaking at just the right time. He's blocking, almost bullying larger people on running plays, and making big catch after big catch when they throw it to him.

Things like that don't go overlooked, and Sports Illustrated thinks his work at the Sr. Bowl may have elevated his draft status by at least a round.

Some players skip the Sr. Bowl fearing injury right before the draft, others use it as one last showcase to sell yourself.

Peek obviously made the right choice.
