Gamecocks' Devan Downey: College Player of the Year?!

TAMPA, FL - MARCH 13: Devan Downey #2 of the South Carolina Gamecocks makes a layup around Dee Bost #3 of the Mississippi State Bulldogs during the quaterfinal round of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament on March 13, 2009 at The St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. I'm watching this game against Kentucky, and I have to say, Devan Downey is the most amazing player I've seen all year.

Just the way that he moves with the ball and his ability to change directions scares the hell out of me. In a good way. Kentucky simply cannot contain him, and that's saying something!

How suitable is it for him to be the one that is last standing at the free-throw line at the end of the game? I just HAVE to believe that the NBA will see this kid playing for at least a FEW years.

Two games in succession with over 30 points, and almost half the entire team's points—it's no wonder that this kid carried his team to victory.

Devan is like a one-man fast break. He has blinding speed down the court, and, even if you have him double-teamed and pressed, he can run right around his defenders and drive in for two, or even put up a three.

I just know one thing, I'm glad Notre Dame doesn't play SC this year!

Simply amazing!

Congrats to SC!
