Although DREAM officials have not confirmed the fight, sources close to the situation have reported to mmajunkie.com that a featherweight championship fight between Bibiano Fernandes and Joachim Hansen is being planned for DREAM 13.

Fernandes most recently was victorious in the Featherweight Grand-Prix. At DREAM 11 in October of 2009, Fernandes defeated Joe Warren and Hiroyuki Takaya to win the prestigious tournament and in the process the DREAM Featherweight Championship.

Joachim Hansen has fought most of his career at in the lightweight division where he holds victories over Takanori Gomi, GZ Calvancante, Caol Uno, Yves Edwards, and Shinya Aoki . In his most recent fight, Shinya Aoki took Hansen's DREAM Lightweight Championship in the rubber-match of their series.

Hansen is the more well rounded fighter of the two as he has shown great striking efficiency, especially with his knees. However, his ground game is highly underrated. Of his 19 victories, five of them are via submission including an armbar victory over Kultar Gill at DREAM Five.

Fernandes does not have much to offer in terms of striking. He has never won a fight by knockout and to this point has not needed to. His Jiu-Jitsu is among the best in the world and if Hansen gets sloppy even for a second, "Flash" has the ability to put him away very quickly.

One advantage Fernandes usually has which he will be giving up is a strength advantage. Hansen presents a threat much bigger than any of Fernandes' previous opponents.

Either way, the winner of this fight will prove with a victory that they are among the best featherweights in the world.
