The man known as Mike Cammalleri was traded to the Calgary Flames on Draft Day 2008 from the Los Angeles Kings for the number 17 selection in the draft.

Cammalleri is a very speedy left wing who scored a total of 79 goals in the past 3 years as a Los Angeles King. But in 2008, he only had 19 goals because of injuries which caused him to miss 19 games of the regular season.

When NHL.com asked Cammalleri if he was excited to be a Flame he said:

  • B/R Ticket Guide

"I’m really excited. I've had a few days to digest it, and I'm really excited about it."

When the interviewer mentioned that Jarome Iginla had led Flames  team scoring by more than 30 points last year, he asked if he Cammalleri was confident he could take pressure off the captain offensively. He replied:   "It seems to be what I’m hearing. I would think that I'll be able to do that."

The closing question asked was if he felt any added pressure by being on the last year of his contract, and he replied:

"I've kind of always been that way. I've never really had a long-term deal, so I've kind of always played contract to contract."

  1. Cammalleri will be a steal for this team if they're able to re-sign him.

  2. I think Iginla got more than 30 points last year dude, might want to go back and check that

  3. its he scored 30 goals not got 30 points

  4. Iginla scored 50 goals last season

    1. Just a bit of trivia, but Cammalleri scored the FIRST EVER regular season NHL goal in Europe, in 2007! And you are very right, 50 goals for Iginla!

  5. i know thats why i put MORE than 30

  6. No offense, sir, Andre, but I have read the NHL.com interview, and I think you missed the point. It doesn't say Iginla had more that 30 points, but that he LED all other Flames scorers BY more than 30 points. The question was then asked if Cammalleri feels confident he can TAKE PRESSURE OFF Iginla, offensively.

Otherwise, it seems like you are saying Iggy simply scored more than 30 points (an average point total for d-men) and that Cammalleri is being expected to BEAT Iginla's point totals. Neither is true nor realistic. But it's just a matter of perspective, so don't worry!

Good angle, nice write up idea, but I think you need to re-read the interview and do a re-write. I'm going in to do that and add a link, but feel free to change whatever you like. As it is written, it unfortunately gives off the wrong message.

Take care, and keep writing. Oh yeah, and Go Flames Go!

  7. oh and by the way folks the article read "led Flames team scoring by more than 30 points " meanng that the next person on scoring depth had 30 less points than iginla, he didn't have 30 goals or points.
    LOL

  8. This is BULLSHIT!!!
