We are into the summer and still no reports of Favre returning.
What does that mean for Aaron Rodgers? It means he will most likely be the new starting quarterback for one of the most storied franchises in the NFL.
If you aren't familiar with Rodgers, you should know that he was drafted in 2005, and has been the back up quarterback in Green Bay for the last three seasons, behind Favre of course.
Most people don't know what to expect from him, they think he is a rookie. Well, Rodgers knows the offense just as well as anyone else on the team, if not more.
He has three seasons under his belt of learning from a future Hall of Famer, and he will be inheriting a team that was a field goal away from the Super Bowl.
When Rodgers made an appearance late in a game against Dallas last year, the whole country got to see him lead the Packers back into the game with his arm. He led the team down the field on several drives that the Packers were able to cash in on. He got it done by reading the defense and taking what yardage the defense gave him, much the way Favre was last year. Completion percentage up, efficiency up.
There is no doubt that this system will work for Rodgers next year, and we will all see first hand when the Packers open up their 2008 season on Monday Night Football.
