Wrestling News World is reporting that sometime this week, Shawn Michaels gave an interview in which he indicated the probable breakup of Degeneration X.

The story cites a radio interview Shawn gave to KISS-FM in San Antonio. The story also reveals that this break up could happen after the Royal Rumble.

If this is in fact the case, it could very well mean that next week on Smackdown, we could be witnessing new tag team champions in the form of CM Punk and Luke Gallows.

Punk has been cutting some of the best heel promos of anyone in the company right now, and giving him and Gallows the tag team belts would give Punk more exposure.

This news will probably generate a lot interesting and intriguing questions.

Where does this leave the tag team division, now that another high-profile team will be gone?  Could this also indicate a potential Wrestlemania match between HBK and Triple H? Could this be Shawn Michaels' last Wrestlemania?

So readers, now that a DX breakup seems all but certain, how will this impact the WWE, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels?

Correction:  I just wanted to thank Debra H for bringing to my attention that the radio interview was conducted sometime last month.  You can view the link here, which also contains a link to the interview.
