While USC was argueably the program of the decade a lot of things have created a lot of confusion around the trojans and it seems like everybody is making predictions and I am no exception. With a new head coach and a lot of ncaa investigators snooping around the trojans future seems really unpredictable but in my opinion we are just witnessing a funny little hiccup on the trojans path to dominance.

Coaching Staff

Say what you will about Lane Kiffin he was a great offensive coordinator and is a great recruiter. His father was one of Pete Carrols biggest mentors enough said. Ed Orgeron is widely known as a recruiting genious but less people know that hes coached numerous all american linemen as an assistant coach. Norm chow is out of the picture but if Kiffins play calling is as good as it was when he called them last time it shouldn't be a huge loss.

Theyr'e not expected to do well

Imagine if your'e usc. Everyone in sports was saying what a dissapointment you were and if your'e honest with yourself you know you could've done better.

If your a player youll want to prove yourself. If your Lane Kiffin and his staff and you don't have a decent season by usc standards your job is on the line.

If your a recruit you chose usc and if you dont do well your options are transfer and wait to play or stay at usc and lose.

If your any one of these your probably going to work harder than anyone else to prove that your not a failure. Everyone at usc will want to prove something.

Returning players

There are a few players that will be sorely missed but there's plenty of coachable talent to make a very good team.

In the running game Allen Bradford is a very good powerback he will be good asset for the trojans offense. The role of elusive back will be between CJ Gable and Marc Tyler who was injured for this season. Fullback Stanley Havili shows a lot of promise and should help round out the trojan ground game.

The defense has some hole to fill in the secondary but there were some backups that seemed up to the challenge. All the linebackers return and should be the strong part of the defense while the line loses Everson Griffen
they gain a very promising recruit in George Uko.

Finally we come to Matt Barkley. Remember when USC beat ohio state and everyone couldn't wait to see more of Matt. Remember when he started to show his inexperience and seemed to become human. Next year he should't make the mistakes he made this year. look to him to be much more experienced and show it. Expect to see a lot of passes to Ronald Johnson.

Recruiting

This class isn't that highly ranked but the trojans are getting what they need. With a young quarterback you need some good targets and that is exactly what they are getting. The class includes Robert Woods and Kyle Prater two of the most sought after wide receivers in the country. Assuming they both play, Matt Barkley will have them and Ronald Johnson to throw to which looks like a very dangerous receiving corps to play against.

Schedule

56524192

This year their ooc games consist of Hawaii(6-7), Minnesota(6-7),
Virginia(3-9) and Notre Dame(6-7). Thats a combined 21-30. In addition they play Oregon and Cal at home. They play Oregon state in corvalis but they beat them in corvalis last year. Even though they play in the deep Pac 10 they have the ability to win every game even though it would be unlikely for them to do so. I believe with this schedule we can expect them to win ten regular season games and have the consideration for a BCS bowl.
