NASCAR Spoilers and Splitters: Insider Pictures of The New Changes

Mike Helton said he felt the debate over wing or spoiler started the day after the first COT car was introduced.

NASCAR's Research and Development Center, located in Concord, North Carolina, was the final stop of the 2010 Media Tour presented by Charlotte Motor Speedway.

With the event being streamed live across the internet and media personnel from around the world looking on, the cover was pulled off a Chevrolet Impala revealing a new blade type rear spoiler, the next step in a series of changes to the rear of a Sprint Cup car.

The new blade spoiler will also return to steel as the primary material. The wings are made from a carbon fiber composite, which enables them to carry a computer chip inside them.
