“The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that Wizards president Ernie Grunfield is either going to stay at 18 and take the best player on his board or move up or down.”

So they’re either going to “stay at 18″ and pick someone, or “move up or down” and pick someone else. That’s the kind of in-depth reportage that keeps me coming back for more. Good stuff.

Elsewhere, Bullets Forever has a roundup of what mocks are saying about the 18th pick, and Kansas power forward Darrell Arthur, Nevada center JaVale McGee and Georgetown center Roy Hibbert are the three guys most often mentioned. Whichever way the Wiz go, let’s just hope it works out as well as the team’s recent draftees.

Update: Carter responds and clarifies, sort of …

“Some folks were ribbing on my last post. And yes, it read like some obvious stuff. What I was trying to convey was that I really believed that Ernie was leaning towards trading out of the draft completely in exchange for a future pick.”

So, according to these past two posts, the Wizards could stay at 18 or move up or down or trade out altogether. Stunning.

Update No. 2: They take McGee, the crowd goes mild, Steinz says meh.
