If this is not just some loathsome trick or simply a piece of idle gossip, I will certainly have to make some sort of protest to Dana White!
In reading an article on the Couch Potato site I learned that "allegedly" Jesse Taylor the same bad boy who kicked out a limousine window, staggered into a Vegas nightspot, terrorized women at a bar and yelled at security guards that "he was the f'n Champion of the UFC Tuf series."
Please Mr. "I really threw the book at this kid" Dana White, tell me this can not be true?
How slowly Mr. White forgives his former friends like Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz and drags them through the court system to get revenge, but how soon he forgets what millions of viewers and even the two coaches of the Tuf 7 series did not hesitate to tell him, "This is NOT someone you want to represent the UFC."
Where will Dana's credibility go if he does in fact allow Jesse Taylor to come back to the UFC to fight on the free July 19 "let's screw with Affliction's first show Banned" fight?
- B/R Ticket Guide
Or perhaps with all the shenanigans he is responsible for, Dana White IS the crazed egomaniac that his adversaries have been claiming he is, and is unhampered by any or all business ethics--a dangerous situation for the CEO of any company to be find himself in.
Even one entire month off the booze is not enough to reform an alcoholic, and I am fairly certain that by anyone's definition, Jesse Taylor is indeed an alcoholic.
What can Dana White, the brain of the UFC, be thinking?
Yes, I do believe in second chances for almost everyone (excluding child abusers and murders), but I am not naive enough to believe that a month of sobriety is proof that this unfortunate (for being exposed on a reality show) young man deserves to be given this second chance at this time.
The feedback I got from the article I wrote describing the drinking and destruction of the mansion used as the Tuf house for the fighters abhors more people than it pleases. (Yes there were some 17 and 18 year olds who tried to tell me this is also their idea of a grand old time, but they were in the minority, thankfully,)
As time progresses the UFC Tuf series will become more famous for encouraging the fighters it supposedly wants to turn into the MMA world's best fighters, into the most pathetic drunken losers of our society and will have publicly shamed them and humiliated their families.
What a tragedy when a reality show about developing MMA fighters who will be idols of our young people, instead becomes a spotlight on one of the greatest American tragedies of our time--the development of the young alcoholics doomed for a long life of failure and lost opportunities.

good article. Dana white is a prick. He wants to be famous and powerful too fast. He treats his fighters like crap and wonders why they leave.

Ian if it wasn't for that "prick" the ufc wouldn't be where it is today. That "prick" has helped countless fighters make more money than they could have without the UFC. He is such a prick that hundreds of guys every year give up everything they know to try and be on TUF. Not everyone is going to like Dana but for every Tito and Randy there are ten guys who think dana is a great boss.
I'll take Dana over Gary Shaw or Monte Cox any day.
Hey dorothy, hasn't it been longer than a month since the show ended? the TV show airs long after the fighters are actually done don't they?
Drunken mistakes happen, it doesn't make them right, but they do happen. I'm not a huge fan of Jesse "Meathead" Taylor but if has cleaned up his act he should get a second chance. I'm sure Dana has made sure that if Taylor does get a second chance he has deserved it.

I know the show was taped before it aired. Two articles that I read both mentioned it had been a month, but I am not sure how long it has been. I do know an awful lot about rehab programs though, and I don't think even 3 or 4 months is time enough to say that an alcoholic Jesse's age has been "reformed" and is ready for a second chance. I know alcoholics, and no longer believe in quick "miraculous" cures.

Addiction is a disease and he will live with it for the rest of his life. If he has been sober for two to three months, has had no further incidents, and has done nothing but train why not give him a shot.
If Jesse can't manage his addiction then he will not succeed in MMA no matter the number of chances he is given. If he truly wants to succeed he will, he has the choice and now a second chance let's see what he can do with it.

Yes Ryan I know Dana White is the reason for many fighter's success and of course he is the reason why the UFC is where it is today. But, look into the guys of Randy and Tito I mean they worked their asses off for them and they both feel like they are treated with disrespect and they feel like they are being overpowered by Dana. Dana is a good business man. For his personality, not so great.

No matter what a business is, alcoholism is not good for its image or for people who represent that business.

What I recall Dana saying is "Jesse you're out of the finals". This was no small punishment. Dana said call him in a couple of months and we'll see if we can work something out. Sometimes taking away something you love makes you realize how important and life changing it can be to realize you need to make some changes in your life. He had a taste of his dream and I'm sure he'll make the proper sacrifices to live his dream again. It reminds me of the "Scared Straight" programs. They do work. He's being given another chance. It's up to him what he does with it.
