Why do bulldogs have flat noses? I don't know why I remembered this joke last week after 40 some odd years, but I did. Then I immediately thought of the Oakland Raiders. Why do bulldogs have flat noses?

From chasing parked cars! Get it? From chasing parked cars!! It was hilarious when I was a kid, and it's still funny. Although a friend of mine who raises English Bulldogs took exception. Whatever.

So why did this make me think of the Raiders? Of course it is all about Al Davis and his love hate relationships with Head Coaches. Is Tom Cable staying or going. When the season ended, conventional wisdom had him going. When he didn't go, conventional wisdom decided he was staying.

Now word is out that Davis has been interviewing Head Coach candidates for two weeks! This according to David White, the Raiders beat writer for the San Francisco Chronicle. And he has league sources.

Jim Fassel, Marc Trestman, and Kevin Gilbride are three of the parked cars, errrr, Head Coaching candidates that Davis has apparently talked to, or will talk to.

Meanwhile, what is really happening in the dark recesses of Raider Headquarters (and what's left of Al's mind) is anybody's guess.

Is Tom Cable now going?
