New York Jets: Team Of Destiny?

Paul SalmanSenior Analyst IJanuary 19, 2010

FROM NECESSARY ROUGHNESS

I have seen Peyton struggle in the playoffs against creative defenses like The Patriots and The Chargers in the past few years. It pains me to say this but the last two weeks have made me feel as if the Jets, and their top ranked defense, may in fact be a team of destiny and be able to beat the Colts.

Another week of hearing how they don't belong will only continue to fuel Rex Ryan and his troops. They will have to hear how they beat the JV Colts in week 16, not the REAL Colts. All this will add to the chip on the shoulder of these 2009/2010 NY Jets.

All pressure here is on the Colts who open as 7.5 point favorites. If this game is close during the first half, and the Jets stay within one score - Advantage New York.

If I were a Jets fan, I would be thinking right now that we are playing with the houses money, while The Colts are expected to win. This is starting to feel like the 2008 run the that the other New York team made which ended with them knocking off the then, unbeaten New England Patriots in the Superbowl.

Teams of destiny cannot be overcome. The question is are these New York Jets a team of Destiny?

With that said, let's hope my new found confidence in the Jets works as a reverse jinx against them!
