Mets Need to Fire Jay Horowitz
I was all geared up to write a post on the Mets need for a new public relations department, but then someone beat me to the punch. There's no need to rewrite what has already been written so I highly recommend you head over to Hot Foot and read Anthony DeRosa's post on the Mets need for new life in their public relations.

From the Mets selling out their star player, Carlos Beltran, to Omar Minaya's press conference debacles to pretty much every way the Mets have handled the media over the last decade, there's an infinite amount of evidence that the time for change is now.

Horowitz has been with the team for the better part of a century and I've yet to see his work product produce any astounding results. The Mets desperately need some changes at the top of the organization. With the Wilpons not looking like their going anywhere and Omar having been given a stay of execution for the year, it's hard to see where those changes can be made.

But PR is one that is relatively simple and can make some immediate impact. The Mets need to get with the times and stop handling things like they did in the 80's and be proactively smart about how they communicate in this 24/7 news cycle.

I wholeheartedly agree with Hot Foot's position, but I'm doubtful that the Mets will actually make the right move.
