Shockwaves were sent throughout the NFL community this morning as DE Gaines Adams of the Chicago Bears died suddenly in a Greenwood, South Carolina hospital.

At this time, the reason is still not know, as this 26-year-old was reported to be in perfect health, although early speculation is that he suffered a heart attack.  An autopsy is expected to take place soon.

Adams had just completed a tumultuous season as he was traded midway through the year from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Bears for a second round pick.

The former Clemson Tiger and number four selection in the 2007 NFL Draft had not lived up to expectations, but both he and the Bears were excited for the future because they both believed that defensive line coach Rod Marinelli could harness his immense talent.

The Bears organization has yet to release a statement at this time.
