UFC Heavyweight Division: Where Is Andrei Arlovski?

Tim Sylvia, The Maine'iac, UFC

Icon Sports MediaUFC fans once believed that Andrei Arlovski was unbeatable—but over his past four fights, he's a mediocre 2-2.

Could this be the end of Arlovski?

His last fight against Fabricio Werdum was a dull one, but it's important to remember that Arlovski had to win if he ever wanted to fight for the UFC again.

Arlovski did what he needed to do to secure the victory. That’s all anyone can ask from him.

I don't think Dana White appreciates the fact that Arlovski and Tim Sylvia carried the UFC heavyweight division for years. Dana needs to give Andrei a chance. He's earned that much.

Arlovski has two wins in a row, but that doesn’t seem to make a difference. Cheick Kongo also has two wins in a row, and he's almost in line for the title—a little ridiculous if you ask me.

Many MMA sources have Arlovski waiting to hear when he will fight next. But with Mark Cuban starting up his own MMA organization, can the UFC really afford to delay?

The answer is simple—NO!

With the sudden departure of Randy Couture, the heavyweight division is already hurting for talent—and if Sylvia wins the title again, it'll mean more of those old boring championship bouts.

The fact is that Andrei Arlovski is one of the top three heavyweight fighters in the world, and he isn’t fighting.

Arlovski has beaten strikers, wrestlers, and jujitsu artists in convincing fashion.  So let's get him back in the Octagon—where he can prove he's the best heavyweight currently employed by the UFC.

Dana White knows what he needs to do. Mark Cuban's league will fail. Guys like Arlovski won't be able to just get up and leave the UFC, they are under contract. Arlovski needs to fight Cro Cop next year, they both need a win and this would be an amazing fight.

Don't kid yourself. If Arlovski was the best ufc heavyweight in the division he'd still have the title, and he certainly wouldn't of been sidelined for the better part of a year. Last I heard Arlovski wants more money, and Dana doesn't want to give it to him. Mainly because the two wins you mentioned that he's gotten in his last four fights...one was a controversial KO and the other was maybe one of the most boring decisions ever witnessed in the UFC.

I read on mmajunkie that Arlovski has one fight left on his UFC contract and Dana White isn't going to give him that fight until he signs a new deal with UFC.

Ya thats what I have heard too. I think Dana owes him the fight and a decent contract, not what he had before but something. He did carry the heavyweight division for two years.

Yeah i remember when he first got popular he was unstoppable, they really used to hype up his fights and he was a big name. He did a lot for the ufc, a lot of my friends who didnt follow the ufc used to come by me just to watch him fight, and with his energy a lot of other people probably watched as well. By holding the title for so long hes gotta be loaded so if dana wants to play games f**k him. Just so u know you can watch the ufc ppv online live for free, don't let danas greedy ass charge u $60.

I ask the same question all the time. How many heavyweight fighters are out there who can grapple and really hit? Fedor, Arlovski, Josh Barnett, and Sergei Kharitonov are the only ones I can think of. I would love to see any of them fight. Nogueria cant hit for his life, Mark Hunt could knockout a dinosaur but needs more ground improvement, and those are the only two who get close. Mark Coleman, Randy Couture, and Tim Sylvia never learned grappling. THANKS for asking about Arlovski! I too want to see him fight more. Nate

are you serious? im gonna assume u just dont know this and ur not a dumbass...ufc 72 (i think) liddell and jackson are paid $500,000 (a lot less for low-profile fighters) where i live its $60 for a ppv but a conservative estimate would be $40...i think thats what u pay in the states

so with the 1 million people who watched it thats $40,000,000...not to mention the money for rights to show ppv in other countries + the movie ads every 2 min + sponsors + tickets and more

who really is making all the money...dana white...so with all the people who watch online free whats really happening....dana cant buy his 50th car and makes $29,500,000 instead of $30,000,000 profit

u should be asking why ufc fighters get paid nothing (relative to profits) and dana's fat bald ass rakes it in

Arlovski is still among the very best of the UFC and one of the only guys in the world who could possibly beat Fedor . The only guy to beat him in 4 years is Tim Sylvia ! It is not like he lost to several fighters , he lost twice to a champion . It is a disgrace that he would be on an undercard below Heath Herring ! I think Arlovski would knock out 90 % of the UFC heavyweights in the first round ! Dana white has become the Don King of MMA and has no respect for the fighters .

Andrei is amoung the best heavy weight fighters. Yes, I think he jas 1 fight left and as usual, Dana is playing his "my way or the highway" games. I dont think the better fighters are getting a chance with Dana and his politics.....Just look at the way the "Millitch" camp was treated after they lost thier titles. Yes, I know spelled that wrong.
Dana needs to get serious and get real. Setting realistic match ups and goals with the UFC fighters, not playing his favortism, acting like a professional instead of wearing torn T shirts to the press conferences, and get a clue. The Gracies ran it better, more professional. Dana should actually get Vince McMahn to promote and help with match ups cuz, what he is doing now, aint gonna fly in the future, especially charging PPV rates for undercard fighters.

Andrei should really get out of UFC and start coaching. He is one of my fave fighters actually but he is not getting a fair shake in the UFC, his enthusiasm is lacking and without a fight, its only a matter of time before he loses sponsers and his contract.
