Double Trouble: Two CJs On One Detroit Lions Roster?
If speed kills, then former Clemson running back CJ Spiller would be convicted on several life sentences. It’s no secret that CJ Spiller is one of the most electric players in all of college football, but will we see him in a Lions uniform? The answer to this question might come as a shock to some people, but yes, it’s a possibility the Lions could add another CJ to their roster.
With Kevin Smith tearing his ACL against the Baltimore Ravens, we might have seen the last of him. As of right now, Kevin shouldn’t be ready to go until after training camp. This could open the minds of Lions coaches and scouts to think about taking CJ Spiller in the draft.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Yes, I said it the Lions could consider taking a running back in the first round, but not with the second overall pick. As of today, Spiller is considered to be a top-15 pick, and after the combine he might even creep up into the top 10 picks. Consider this scenario though, what if Spiller doesn’t get drafted in the top 15 picks. This scenario isn’t as unlikely as many people many think.
There’s only a one team in the NFL that I believe would consider taking a running back in the first round and it’s the Seattle Seahawks, but if he falls past 20, I think a playoff team could take him to bolster their offensive weapons. Seattle has two first round picks in this year’s draft with the sixth and 14th overall.
If Seattle decides to pass up on Spiller, that might lead Detroit to trade back into the first round and make a move for him.
Like most people I believe the Lions should fix their O-line and defense before they go after a running back, but a playmaker at running back wouldn’t be a terrible idea. While watching CJ Spiller I believe he could be the next LT. He has great vision, cutting ability, hands, and he is tougher than most people think.
I’m not suggesting that the Lions should trade back in the first round if Spiller falls, but I want to see how you Lions fans feel if this scenario does happen.
