Confessions Of a Mayweather Hater.
January 15, 2010
As a boxing fan I like to write about what I see in the boxing world. I don't fabricate or spin any facts in order to favor my opinions. I have to admit that In my last two articles I was being Anti-Mayweather. I guess you can say I was Hating on "Money", and I heard it from his fans.
In my last two articles I added two polls; one to see who the fans blamed for the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight not taking place, and the other to see which fight the fans would pay to see on March 13.

It's not a surprise that the polls didn't favor Mayweather, as a matter of fact he lost both by over 80 percent. Yet Mayweather's fans blame me of writing propaganda.
What these people fail to realize is that I am writing my articles from a boxing fan point of view and not from a Pacquiao fan point of view. I don't hate or dislike Mayweather. I will be the first one to admit he is one of the best defensive boxers of all time, he is fast, and is very skilled. As a boxing fan I would be stupid not to recognize the skills of an undefeated boxer with a record of 40 wins(25 KO).
I have a problem with Mayweather proclaiming he is pound for pound the number one boxer in the world. To be the best you have to fight the best, and he hasn't fought the best. Mayweather has passed on fighters like Cotto, Mosley, Paquiao, and even Margarito (before cheating). Lately he has been picking fighters from lighter divisions and not from his own division(Welterweight). His most memorable fight in my opinion was against a weak and drained Corrales; and lately against a lighter Marquez.
The problem with Mayweather is that when he is not picking his oponents, he is making top boxers fight him at a weight that is not theirs. If Mayweather wants to be respected by the fans, sponsors, and media he has to stop using the sport of boxing as a business. Mayweather needs to listen to the fans and not his promotional team, who can't afford to see him get hurt.
If Mayweather wants to be remembered as one of the best boxers of all time and not as a dodger, he will have to fight Mosley, Cotto, and Pacquiao soon. The fans will dictate your place in boxing history, not GBP or Ellerbe.
