NHL, NHL Hockey

I don’t have many details, but I was going to ask everyone on Bleacher Report to keep Chandra Zorr in your prayers. I’m not sure of all the details…but the last time I heard, she was in a car wreck, blindsided by a drunk driver.

The full extent of her injuries are not yet known to me at the time of writing this, but my friend, who was only able to inform me of some minor things, said she is numb on the left side of her body. Initially, it was expected she would need physical therapy for her left arm, so things are quite unclear.

For those of you who don’t know Chandra, she is quite active in the NHL community. She hasn’t written much as she is new to the sport of hockey, but writing and editing are her passions. Every single article of mine during the playoffs went under her eyes, and I was critiqued until I was about to scream.

Chandra was sort of a background figure at Bleacher Report, but without her, I would not have any of the positions or success I have presently. She urged me to step up to the challenge of being a co-CL with Bryan Thiel. She has been a huge inspiration and great friend to me as I grew as a writer.

I realize many of you will not know her, but please keep her in your prayers, as someday it might be your article she’s improving. And trust me, that day will be pure hell...Trust me!

As I receive news, I will post it as a comment to this article. If you want to show support, her profile is linked to her name.

The update as of June 27th at 10pm:

Numbness is gone, and she hopes to start PT soon, but there is some long term damage. Nerves in her legs are "messed up" from the car rolling, so if she is even able to walk...it will be a challenge. Thats all i have for now. If i get more ill update you.

  10. Wow...always sad to hear something like this.

She will certainly be in my thoughts.

  11. I'm tired of hearing about drunk drivers hurting or killing innocent people. When will the laws properly punish these people?

Please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope everything turns out well.

  12. This is some sad news, please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery. She will certainly bein my thoughts. I have to echo several others, I'm sick and tired of hearing about drunk drivers hurting or killing innocent people.

  14. Sorry to hear that. My thoughts and prayers go out to Chandra and her family.
Good luck and here's to a fast and full recovery.

  15. My thoughts and prayers are with her and we all wish her the very very best

  16. She's been a constant presence, like you said, and she works hard to help others and improve her own understanding of her new favourite sport, hockey. It takes a lot to balance what you know and what you don't and still come out with genius edits, ideas, and critiques.

Thank you Chandra, for all the wonderful work you've done and all the great work we are sure you will be back doing soon. B/R has come out for you, from all over the world, so we've got you covered. Just relax and focus on getting better... anything else just isn't important right now.

And thank you Ken, for keeping us up to date. This is why B/R is a true community to it's members; this is what a community does, and it's great to see.

It's sickening that drunks and idiots can still be so selfish, and that their stupidity usually is most destructive to the innocent. It's everyone's responsibilty.

  17. As Dave said, we're all rooting for Chandra's swift recovery at the B/R office. Please keep us posted Ken.

  18. Best wishes to Chandra for a full recovery. I'll keep her in prayer.

  19. Unfortunately this is becoming a common thing. People really just don't care who they hurt when they drink. We as a society need to start taking responsibility for our actions.

Chandra, hang in there and hury back to BR!

  20. My thoughts and prayers are with Chandra and her family. May God Bless her and her family.

  21. can we do anything ? lemme know.

  22. My prayers will also be with Chandra and her loved ones, may everything turn out well, by the grace of God.

  23. This is very and I pray that she would pull through.

    1. sad

  24. My thoughts and well wishes are with her and her family during this difficult time. Gut wrenching. Get well soon Chandra!

  25. I knew my 100th article would be special, I just hadn't anticipated anything like this. The out pouring is amazing. I know Chandra would truly be awestruck at the show of support and I will without a doubt show her this when she is better.

I'm afraid I don't have any updated news, as I only have one person close to her and no way to directly contact Chandra. As soon as i hear something I will post. Thanks everyone for the support!

  27. Ken,
Thanks for informing us of this tragic situation. Chandra will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hope you get well soon, Chandra!

  28. My thoughts and prayers go out to Chandra. Driving drunk is one of the most irresponsible acts a human can commit and hopefully Chandra will persevere.
