From Bulldogs to Underdogs to Wonderdogs.  That is how you can script the amazing run of this baseball team.

They were the lowest seeded team AND the team with the most losses to win a baseball title.  Look at what they had to go through:

-Fresno State had to win the WAC title to get in.

-Fresno State won in the toughest region in the field in regionals that included San Diego, California, and Long Beach State.

-Fresno State took two out of three from Arizona State (who entered the super regional matchup at 39-1).

Then in Omaha:

-Hung 17 runs on an experienced Rice team

-Beat North Carolina (CWS championship favorite) TWICE

-Rallied from 5-0 down to win 19-10 over Georgia in an elimination game

-And tonight, they are national champions.

So given all of what Fresno State has done, where do you put this in terms of all time upsets in NCAA history?

I'm going to say that this is the same thing as a 16-seed winning it all in basketball, based on not only the teams that they defeated (though the other top seeds ahead of Georgia weren't in the Championship game), but more importantly where they did it at. Beating a good Long Beach State team and a terrific ASU team in Long Beach and Tempe respectively is almost impossible to do.

Looking at the above accomplishments, you can call Fresno State the "Wonderdogs."
