This is a look back at the last time the ACC football teams went to play a Non-Conference Ranked Opponent out of their home state. If a team is in the Top 20 for the length of time facing a Non-Conference Ranked Opponent (NCRO) it will be listed in the caption. This is the first in a series of twelve that I hope will shed light on some programs who avoid playing a NCRO on the road.
The Florida State Seminoles went to BYU on September 19th, 2009.
The Duke Blue Devils went to play the Kansas Jayhawks on September 19th, 2009.
Maryland went to California September 5th 2009.
The Hokies traveled to Atlanta, GA to play Alabama on September 5th, 2009.

The 11th longest time since facing a non-conference ranked opponent in all of the FBS is the Virginia Cavaliers who haven't done so since August 25th, 2001 against Wisconsin.
Georgia Tech traveled to Notre Dame on September 6th, 1997 which is currently the 5th longest drought of facing a NCRO.
The 2nd longest time since playing a NCRO belongs to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. They played the Michigan Wolverines on September 24th, 1988.
