While it is only mere speculation at the current time, the word going around the Tennessee campus this morning is that Mike Hamilton may be in some hot water with the Board of Trustees and the President of UT after Lane Kiffin darted to USC after only 14 months on the job as the Vols head man.

Hamilton was set on Kiffin from the get-go against the advice of several people with knowledge of Kiffin's background and this is what has the administration upset at Tennessee this morning.

Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders front office actually sent a letter to Mike Hamilton after the hire of Lane Kiffin to advise them they had the wrong man.  Hamilton ignored the information obviously and now Kiffin is gone after just one season.

A press conference by Mike Hamilton is scheduled for 1pm eastern today in which Vol fans have no idea at this point what to expect from this conference.  There is speculation that Mike Hamilton will step aside as AD at Tennessee on the advice of Trustees and Alumni.

It is reportedly being considered that Phillip Fulmer, who still lives in Knoxville, would take the post from Hamilton and fill the coaching vacancy with someone who fits the Tennessee family system.  That name appears to be John Gruden as he was a graduate assistant at UT and his wife cheered for the Big Orange.

Still, at this point, all of this is just rumored and I hope to have more for you later today on this story as it continues to play out.
