Wondering what the Cubs are going to do about the Carlos Zambrano problem? Look no further than No. 52 of the Cleveland Indians—the 6'7", 290 lb. Carsten Charles Sabathia.
Sabathia has gone 5-8 this season, with a 4.06 ERA, 107 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP. The flame-throwing lefty has had an average season; however, if added to the Cubs rotation, he would have better numbers than Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, and Sean Marshall. He could perhaps take fellow lefty Ted Lilly's spot.
Among other contenders for Sabathia are the Brewers, Tampa Bay, and the Red Sox.
Currently, the Brewers have the best chance of getting Sabathia because of their wealth of prospects; however, it is entirely possible that the Cubs could negotiate a strong trade deal with the Indians (trading Marshall, perhaps?) in order to secure their spot as the new owners of Sabathia.
Hopefully, the Cubbies will be able to find a way to supplant the Brewers as the leading team in the bid for Sabathia. With his numbers and the Cubs' hot bats, he could feasibly give the Cubs another five wins on the year, firmly securing their place in the playoffs and possibly helping them to move on even further.

The Cubs have a lot of their prospects in the majors right now so they can showcase them to other teams. If they can somehow make a deal for Sabathia, then Hendry really does believe this is the team of destiny...

Huge Tribe fan here. Cubs are definitely in the running but it's actually the Brewers who have more of the prospects that the Indians covet.
Either way good luck to the Cubbies in '08!
