To those of you who want to jump the gun and blame Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid for this latest playoff disappointment, think again. Reid you can perhaps blame for our offensive line issues, since he is essentially our GM, regardless of who holds the title. However....

Has anyone but me noticed that the defense was a shell of it's former self this season ? I know the passing of the great Jim Johnson had something to do with it. But numerous injuries to our LB crew, the loss of Brian Dawkins due to salary cap reasons, and the lack of a dominant pass rushing DE are our main issues. Not to mention after losing Dawkins, we also lost our leadership. The fact that Trotter was even on the field for one play this season was a total embarassment. With all respect to what he's done in the past, this guy should NOT be wearing an NFL uniform anymore.

The offensive problems will be fixed. Jeremy Maclin, D-Jax, McCoy, Celek, etc, are still VERY young. We finally have a servicable FB for the first time in the Andy Reid era. Unfortunately, the one part of our offense that was always a constant, our offensive line, was downright offensive this year. Blame it on injuries, bad free agent signings in the "other" Andrews brother, Jason Peters (how he made the pro bowl is beyond me). But we all know this will be fixed. One thing Andy Reid and company have always prioritized is the O-Line.

This being said, it's our defense that faces a very key off season. We have about a 2-3 year window with Donovan at the helm. Do any of us REALLY wanna see Kevin Kolb out there for 16 games ? I know, I know. Some of you wanted A.J. Feeley, Jeff Garcia, etc, in the past.. The "trade McNabb and keep _____ (insert your own dud)" cries were heard in this city before. None of these would have worked. I certainly dont want to see it now. Can anyone give any real reasoning as to whether or not Kevin Kolb can be another Aaron Rodgers, and come out of nowhere essentially, and step right in and be a star ?

I dont know about the rest of you, but I've seen enough years of horrible QB's and head coaches on this Eagle team before the arrival of these 2 guys. I most certainly dont wanna go down that road again.

Lets give these guys a break. They have brought the Eagles out of the lower class of the NFL to a perennial contender. It hasnt worked yet, but believe me, it still can, and it can also get a WHOLE LOT WORSE without these 2 guys around !!!
