Thanks to a much-needed home-in-home sweep of the Rockford Rampage, the Philadelphia KiXX are with in striking distance of division leaders Milwaukee and Baltimore in the current Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) standings.
KiXX Captain Pat Morris played a big part in the weekend's double-bubble bounty, as the 11-year veteran picked up 12 points, an effort that did not go unnoticed by the league office, which today honored Morris as MISL Player of the Week.
"Being the veteran and captain that he is, Pat stepped up and played really big for us this past weekend," head coach Don D'Ambra stated. "He led by example on the field, and that is what we must do in order to win big games. It's also great to see that type of effort be acknowledged by the league."
Morris anchored the KiXX defense, while also leading the offense in points over the two-game set with the Rampage.
The 11-year veteran made his return to the City of Brotherly Love a historic one on Saturday in the team's home opener at the Liacouras Center, registering eight points on a hat trick and two assists in a 23-20 victory, while also scoring the 175th goal of his decorated career.
Morris is currently tied with Anthony Maherfor second on the team in scoring with 21 points, four behind team leader Adauto Neto who has 25.
Morris and the rest of his mates will try to continue their attack on the division leaders Saturday, Jan. 23 at Temple University's Liacouras Center, when the team hosts Rockford.
