It's all starting to make sense now.
Nick Saban was asked a lot of questions when he oversigned for the upcoming 2008 football season, but quite obviously he knew he'd have some open roster spots.
This morning, LB Jimmy Johns was booted off the team after being arrested and charged with with five felony counts of distributing cocaine. A sixth charge of possession was also tacked on after police officers searched his off-campus residence and found cocaine and Ecstasy pills.
- B/R Ticket Guide
Johns, who had been a RB previously, apparently misunderstood the "line" part of "linebacker" and assumed that cocaine distribution was part of his new role.
No word on whether this will affect sales at Jimmy Johns delis across the country.

.........Um the guy just ruined his life and put another black eye on the progam, and this is suppose to be funny??? Yea, there are people who took that viewpoint that we got another free scholly, but still, this is not cool. Not to mention the rumors of him doing this date back way before he was moved to linebacker, so learn your stuff before you go spouting off, especially if you are going to claim to know the entire SEC.

Funny? No. Cool? No. But when you're dumb enough to dabble in cocaine - regardless of age, race, gender, etc - you open yourself to criticism. I understand that the rumors date way back to not long after he first signed, which, in all honesty, make this even harder to fathom. If it was a well-known rumor to the general public, you know the coaching staff knew about it... Where was their intervention to stop this kid from ruining his life and putting another black eye on the program?
How would this be better addressed? Proclaiming this kid a victim? Announcing how sorry I feel for him? Saying it's not his fault? The truth hurts sometimes and this kid is an idiot. The Alabama football program will be better off without him.

And breeding pit bulls....
From Rivals: Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns, who was dismissed from the team after being arrested in Tuscaloosa on drug charges Tuesday, also apparently was breeding pit bulls.
Alabama LB Jimmy Johns was kicked of the football team after being arrested.
A quote on the jimmyjohnspitbulls.com Web site says, "Not only does Jimmy sell some of the bulliest dogs in the country. He also plays for the best college football team in the country. The University of Alabama. Roll Tide."
The Web site was created in March 2008.
Elsewhere on the site, it says, "Our dogs have been raised as close companions, not bred and raised to make us the all mighty (sic) dollar. We do not want to be confused with other kennels that just feed, water, and breed their dogs on every heat cycle to make money. We love our dogs and take care of them better than most do their children."

he oversigned because he works like that. a commitment is kinda a commitment unless a better player comes along. program building is about commitment. staying the course and sticking with players who don't pan out on the field but are quality men. at georgia richt won't take a scholarship for football reasons. how many players could he have ditched this year when omar hunter came calling the last hour? both ways might work and have merits in wins and losses. btw when will saban win his 100 game in 15 years? a .6 something winning percentage. get the picture.
