CAPS THROTTLE THRASHERS, 8-1
ATLANTA - Well, the Caps scored -- A LOT, to say the least.

As if it wasn't bad enough for the Atlanta Thrashers, who have one win in their last ten outings, they allowed the Washington Capitals to reach a new milestone Saturday night at Phillips Arena.

Which milestone? Try the most goals Washington has ever scored in a single game in Atlanta - EIGHT!

The 8-1 win was a thumping. It looked as if the Caps were playing a high school club team.

Alexander Semin and Mike Knuble each tallied a pair of goals to pace the Washington offense.

Michal Neuvirth made 38 saves, allowing just one goal for his fifth win in net this season.

Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Poti, Jason Chimera and David Steckel also lit the red light for the Caps in the victory.
