As first reported by Darren Dreger of TSN, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Darcy Tucker are preparing to part ways.

Dreger said Maple Leafs' GM Cliff Fletcher informed Tucker earlier this afternoon of his decision to buyout the long time Leafs forward.

Tucker's agent Carlos Sosa said Darcy knows this is a business and his family is prepared to move on.

Due to terms in the CBA, the Maple Leafs will be on the hook for a part of the fan favourite's contract.

The buyout will have a $1 million dollar cap hit for the next six years.
