Now, it's time to move on to Week 2 of the 2008 College Football season.
Key Games in Week 2:
BYU (1-0) @ Washington (0-1)
With the nation's longest winning streak, the Boise State Broncos walked into Husky Stadium to face the Washington Huskies during week two of last year's college football season.
Unfortunately, the Boise State Broncos learned just how tough it is to play in Husky Stadium as the Washington Huskies defeated the Boise State Broncos 24-10 to end Boise State's 14-game winning streak.
This season the BYU Cougars will walk into Husky Stadium with the nation's longest winning streak to face the Washington Huskies during week two of the college football season.
I sense the scary feeling of deja vu! Look for Ty Willingham and the Washington Huskies to rebound from their week one road loss to Oregon and hold serve at home for a quality win over the Cougars.
Sorry BYU fans, but a run at a perfect season will have to wait until the 2009.
Winner: Washington
Louisiana Tech (1-0) @ Kansas (1-0)
After holding serve at home for a big win over Mississippi State in the battle of Bulldogs, coach Derek Dooley and his upstart Louisiana Tech Bulldogs look to build on their momentum coming into week two as they travel to Rock Chalk Jayhawk land to take on the #3 Kansas Jayhawks.
On September 8th of last season, Hawaii needed overtime to defeat Derek Dooley’s Bulldogs in week two. In the first overtime, Dooley decided to go for two, figuring it would be next to impossible to keep Colt Brennan from scoring again. This was a decision reminiscent of Boise State’s in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. Unfortunately, the pass for conversion was deflected and the Warriors escaped with a 45-44 win.
There will be no need for overtime in this one as Todd Reesing pulls off a prime time, Heisman-like performance against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Kansas Jayhawks will crush Louisiana Tech by about nine touchdowns and show why they are the #3 team in the nation.
Winner: Kansas
Weber State (1-0) @ Hawaii (0-1)
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will be coming into this game fresh off a ten touchdown drubbing at the hands of the Florida Gators, while Weber State comes off nine days of rest and a nice win over Montana Western.
Last season the Rainbow Warriors, with Heisman finalist Colt Brennan, needed overtime to win over Louisiana Tech in week two. Now that Hawaii is without Brennan, I am wondering if Hawaii can even get to overtime in this season's week two. In addition, Hawaii lost their top three wide receivers and best offensive lineman.
Either way, I see Weber State using the nine days of rest to their advantage, making it factor into the outcome of this game, as Weber State will beat Hawaii.
The post-Colt Brennan era has gotten off to a very bad start as the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors fall to 0-2 on the 2008 season. Weber State will improve to 2-0, as things could get very ugly in a hurry for Hawaii!
Winner: Weber State
