The 28-year-old playing on his home ground (in every sense of the word...he was born in Essex) has just hit a blistering 152 runs not out off a mere 58 balls (A new Twenty20 record), at an astonishing strike rate of 262.2, which is HUGE!

What makes this innings all the more spectacular is that he cleared the rope at Chelmsford a magnificent 26 times, 16 of which were maximums, which set a new world record (not even Brendon McCullum hits that many).

With all the talk of Kolpak players have we finally found a pinch hitting type batsman that can open for England, or are the fireworks he showed today just another flash in the pan?
