Steckel, in his sixth season as a pro and third in the NHL, is the league leader in face-off percentage (61.9%), while registering five points on two goals and three assists this season. The West Bend, Wisc., native leads the team in penalty kill ice time, with 124:14 in 2009-10.

The Capitals, behind newly appointed team captain Alex Ovechkin, will return to the pond on Thursday night, when they host the Ottawa Senators at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center. The game will be televised on CSN-DC and TSN.
