Here's a kickoff to a new weekly feature, the Pac-10 Power Rankings.
Votes are collected from four of our Pac-10 featured columnists on Bleacher Report. Though this conference isn't as deep as years past, many teams like Wasington State and Oregon look promising and could be a threat to make the tournament in March.
Thanks to Tom Phillips and Jameson Fleming for contributing. Give us your feedback in the comments.
10. Oregon State (6-7, 0-2)
The only bright spot of Craig Robinson's season is he just welcomed a new child into the world.
-Jameson Flemming
9. Stanford (6-7, 0-1)
Landry Fields is this one team's bright spots as they have lost four of their last five. Fields leads the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots.
-Kevin Cacabelos
8. Arizona State (10-5, 0-2)
The Sun Devils started the conference season with two tough losses against UCLA and USC. Their offense looks bare without the scoring abilities of James Harden and Jeff Pendegraph.
—Kevin Cacabelos
7. UCLA (6-8, 1-1)
The Bruins won, thanks to a no-call against ASU. They then laid a duck, losing at home to Arizona for the first time in four years. Will Ben Howland be able to get his team to play better defense?
-Tom Phillips
6. Arizona (7-7, 1-1)
The Wildcats almost pulled one out against the Trojans. However, they were able to shutdown the Bruins in Westwood. This team can beat the majority of the teams in the conference, but won't be able to grind out close games.
-Tom Phillips
5. Washington State (11-3, 1-1)
Klay Thompson is the best scorer in the league...now only if he had more help around him. Could they make the tournament?
-Jameson Fleming
4. Washington (10-3, 1-1)
The Huskies are the opposite of the Golden Bears. The defense isn't quite good enough yet. These young Huskies still have much to learn.
-Jameson Fleming
3. Oregon (10-4, 2-0)
Great sweep on the road against the Washington schools. The Ducks are healthy and playing well—well enough to potentially save Ernie Kent's job.
-Jameson Fleming
2. USC (10-4, 2-0)
It's ridiculous this team can't play in the postseason because they deserve to.
-Jameson Fleming
1. California (9-4, 1-0)
The defense is much improved, which is why they are probably the best team in the league.
-Jameson Fleming
