Socialite Casey Johnson, the 30-year old daughter of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, was found dead in her Hollywood home a little before noon Monday. The initial cause of death has been reported as natural causes, pending toxicology results.
Johnson had recently been in the headlines as the fiancee of reality TV star Tila Tequila. Johnson, a heiress to the Johnson and Johnson fortune, was frequent on the party circuit, running with celebrity socialites such as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
Johnson was known for her social life. Reports indicate that her mother cut off financing shortly before her death in order to force her to go to rehab.
The late Casey Johnson was friends with Paris and Nicky Hilton, and she often remarked that turning down the opportunity to appear alongside Paris Hilton on "The Simple Life" was a mistake.
Paris and Nicky Hilton weren't the only party girls in Johnson's social circle. She also was friends with known party-girl Lindsay Lohan.
Johnson was engaged to marry reality TV star Tila Tequila. Tequila initially tweeted that Johnson had passed away before then tweeting that Johnson was in a coma. A little later, Tequila updated her account to indicate that Johnson had indeed passed.
Woody Johnson bought the Jets in 2000 for $635 million. The family hasn't said much about Casey's death, other than releasing a brief statement asking for privacy.
