Revealing the top five Running Backs of the year. Many are in the top rankings and earn a spot in the top five. But this is who I think deserves it most. The rankings wont all be about stats but digging deeper and seeing how they helped their team. For example, one RB may have a better O-line than others. Or they could have a crumby O-line yet still did well.
Chris Johnson well deserves the first spot with just under 2,000 yards and 12 touchdowns (through week 16). He may yet get 2,000 yards still this week and I believe Jeff Fisher will try and let him get that milestone. The Titans, of course, have nothing to play for. They may focus on him through the game.
Adrian Peterson also deserves to be in the top five this year with 1,339 yards and 17 touchdowns (most in NFL). Adrian and QB Brett Favre lead their team into the playoffs earning the 2nd seed.
Jones-Drew earns the third spot having another great year with 1,309 yards and 15 touchdowns. Not only does he run, he catches balls too and works well in Jack Del Rio`s offense. He also is a big favorite with fantasy owners.
Ray Rice had his best season of his short career this year with 1,269 yards and 7 touchdowns. Rice is also a big catcher and blew away last years receiving stats with 74 receptions 683 yards and a touchdown. Rice almost tripled both his rushing and receiving yards from last year.
Steven Jackson earns the fifth spot on my list. He is in the runnings with a couple of more RB´s, but I went with him. Jackson had 1,353 rushing yards but only 4 touchdowns. If Jackson had a better O-line, he would be racking up more td´s and more yards. Even with the Rams lousy offense, Jackson fought through and still managed to rack up the yards.
