Bowl Crap: Time For a New Year's Nap

Is it just me, or are there a few others out there looking for something to do today? Something other than sitting in front of the TV watching a string of meaningless college football games. Yawn...

I won't beat a horse that died years ago, except to say that the contrived B(C)S system has lost all of its appeal. By pitting two of the best non-B(C)S schools against each other, TCU and BSU (neither one of which I root for), "the system" has eliminated any possibility of a Cinderella story. But we'll have to wait until Monday night for that mildly entertaining match-up.

Supposedly, we all need to wait for Thursday's big game between Alabama and Texas to find out who wins the National Championship. I guess that means that all of the games leading up to it, including the buffet of contests rolled out today, are essentially meaningless. It's a little like hyping an NFL wildcard playoff that deadends with a winner between Baltimore and Denver. No one moves on. Thankfully, the NFL doesn't see the logic in it.

So much for the dead horse. I've desecrated its grave.

Unless it stops raining and another opportunity unveils itself, I'm probably fated to fall asleep in front of the TV watching the mighty Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes fight it out for the coveted Rose Bowl Championship. Pinch me.

Oh well, at least there will be plenty of chip, dip, and beer on hand to ease me into a comfortable mid-afternoon nap. What the heck; I should look at this is a good chance to get a little rest before the NFL playoffs. I'm feeling better already. Happy New Year!
