As a follow-up to my article "The Ugliest Uniforms of the 2009 College Football Season," I now present my list of the best.

No, these aren't all Nike Pro Combat uniforms, though some of them do make the list.

As stated in the previous slideshow, some teams have had to put up with wearing garbage uniforms all year. Fans suffer, having to watch teams like Virginia Tech, Navy, or Wyoming because they love their team.

But some teams have proud fans. Fans that can be proud to wear their team's jersey come gameday. Fans that enjoy being the weird guy who wears face paint and every piece of team gear possible.

Those teams are what you'll see in this slideshow. The teams with the best looking uniforms in college football.

This time the bonus slide will feature the best looking uniform from the FCS.

Without further ado, I present the best uniforms in college football.

The Best Uniform in the FCS

What is it about all black uniforms? As you'll see throughout the slideshow, they're a favorite of mine.

Appalachian State pulls off the all black quite nicely. They have a unique jersey design going on with the shoulder/chest stripes, as well as a clean looking helmet.

It has a classic look to it, as well as a modern touch that I love. One of the few simple uniforms that I enjoy looking at. It's a solid uniform, to match the FCS team of the decade.

Runners up: Eastern Washington, Grambling State

10. Missouri Tigers

93940822

Missouri was one team to receive new Nike Pro Combat uniforms. These ones are really different from their regular uniforms, and it takes some getting used to.

At first, I didn't like them at all, but the more I look at them the more I realize how great they are.

The uniform itself is quite simple, but that helmet is somethin' else. The black "M" looks good against the gray, and brings to the table a unique looking helmet for sure.

The only thing I don't like is the shoulders. The little gray/ yellow stripe around the shoulder ... that just doesn't look good to me. But overall it's a good uniform.

9. Colorado Buffaloes

Rackmultipart

This is the first of many all black combos to make the list. It's just a great look.

Colorado uses something quite unseen in sports, gold and black uniforms. But they make it work. The uniform is basic, with simple stripes going up the chest and down the sides of the jersey. The number looks good with the gold accent as well.

The helmets are a bright gold, with their awesome buffalo logo on either side. It's one of my favorite logos in college football.

The uniform comes together through it's simplicity, and starts off the list of all black uniforms.

8. North Carolina Tar Heels

95380008

Breaking away from the black theme so far, the Tar Heels are one of the only sports teams that makes baby blue look good.

Their cool helmet design, straight down to the Nike shoes, the whole outfit looks awesome. The baby blue jerseys fit nicely, and the uniform has a good flow to it.

It's a traditional uniform, simple, and hasn't been changed for a long time. There isn't many of those that I like, but North Carolina sure does pull it off.

Props to the Tar Heels for, while ending the season on a bad note, doing it in some awesome uniforms.

7. Georgia Bulldogs

93538575

One of the most used combos in football, or any sport really, is red, black, and white. It's really hard to mess that up.

Georgia wears some simple red, white, and black uniforms, though the pants are really a light gray color. They remind me of the Atlanta Falcons old uniforms.

The design is simple, the stripes work, the logo is a classic ... it's hard not to love Georgia's uniforms!

(BTW: Green Bay had the oval "G" first in 1961, which was copied by Georgia in 1964. Grambling State adopted it some time after that.)

6. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

93538361

And following their inner-state rivals, is Georgia Tech.

The Yellow Jackets are another team with a unique nickname. And rather than do something stupid like put a little bumblebee on their helmets, they stick with a traditional looking "G T".

Their colors of gold and white look good together. This uniform in particular looks crisp and well put together. I love every bit of it. The stripes, the colors, the helmet ... it's all wonderful to look at.

Just one more reason to watch the Orange Bowl ... and root for the Yellow Jackets.

5. Oregon Ducks

Rackmultipart

That's right, the Ducks make both lists. Do you know why? Because while they sport some of the worst uniforms in college football, they also wear some of the best. That's just how many they have.

I picked their best uniforms worn this year, the all blacks. As I said, it's a favorite of mine.

It's hard to screw up an all black uniform in my opinion, and the Ducks give it a fresh look with the helmet, the yellow highlights, and of course the wings.

Their "Blackout" uniforms (worn against Arizona State) were a big hit, and rank number five on the list.

This is one of the few uniforms the wings look good on. The numbers gives the uniform a little "flare" of yellow, and makes them really pop out.

Hopefully we'll be seeing this combo next year as well. That is, assuming they keep the wings.

4. Hawaii Warriors

Rackmultipart

These uniforms are fantastic. You can see the two different ones together there, with the main difference being the change from black pants to green pants.

Personally I think the black ones are better.

The numbers and "Hawaii" font is unique, and the colors go great together. Green and black is another combo not seen too often in football, and Hawaii makes it work.

The Warriors would be ranked higher, but I don't like the little horns coming out of the color ... that's their only downfall.

A lot of people hate Hawaii's new uniforms, so it's kind of a love it or hate it thing. Because man I love it. Hawaii sure has come a long way from the Rainbow uniforms back in the day.

3. TCU Horned Frogs

Rackmultipart

I know, I said I hated purple on uniforms. And I did ... until I found TCU. Their new uniforms are the only purple ones I've found attractive. They look so good, it ranks number three.

It's a dark purple, and blends well with the unique looking charcoal pants that matches the helmet. The helmet, of course, stand out with the sleek red stripes, which are supposed to represent blood shooting from their eyes. Very cool.

The whole uniform looks good, and while you wouldn't think purple and gray would make a great combo, TCU pulls it off.

Those Horned Frogs have gotten a lot of national recognition lately, and these uniforms are only helping the situation.

2. Florida State Seminoles

Rackmultipart

And at number two, we have Florida State. Who'd of thought ... a traditional uniform ranking in my top three.

Florida State was one of the 10 teams to get the new Nike Pro Combat uniforms, however their traditional home uniform is much better looking.

Both uniforms look amazing. The helmet from the new Nike ones are better, but I'm not a fan of that thing on the shoulders. I mean, what is it? The uniform to me isn't as good as the red and gold either.

And seriously, how can you not love the red and gold? In addition to having a great nickname, the hottest fanbase in college football, and a pretty decent football team, their uniforms provide another reason to root for the Seminoles.

Whether you think the traditional red/gold uniforms or the new Nike Pro Combat ones are better makes no difference. Both are great.

Just not quite the best...

1. San Diego State Aztecs

92964147

With the first place finish, in addition to the best ranked all black uniform in the nation, is little known San Diego State.

Some of you may think I'm crazy. Most people have USC, Texas, FSU, or Michigan at number one. Well, I'm not like most people. There's something about these guys I love. The uniforms are simply fantastic.

The SDSU Aztecs have a lot of things going for them. One, their nickname. 'Aztecs' is completely unique and isn't used by any other sports team that I know of. So props for that.

Two, their helmet. The cherry red with the 'Aztecs' scrolling across looks mighty fine. And three, of course, is their all black uniforms.

They aren't as simple as Colorado's or Oregon's, but rather have bold white and red stripes down the shoulders and legs. They look great.

As well as the big 'San Diego State' on the chest which isn't too visible from the picture, but it all blends quite nicely. Their red/ white/ black is probably the most used color combo in sports, and it looks good here.

While the 4-8 Aztecs won't be receiving any compliments about their on-field performance, they do deserve recognition for the finest uniforms in college football.

I hope the Aztecs shape up their football, because I sure would love to see some more of these guys on TV.

Even if they had a losing season and will miss out on the bowl season, they can still be proud having worn the best uniforms in college football all year.
