Green Bay Packers: Ten New Year's Resolutions for 2010

The Packers have completed a successful 2009, but has more to do to start 2010. The ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl is a long shot this year.
There are simple things that can be done for the team to go to the next level. With the new decade rolling in, here are my top 10 Packers' New Year's resolutions for the 2010 to make the jump to the Super Bowl.
Beat the Vikings
At least at Lambeau Field. Had Green Bay won that game this seaspn, we would already have won the NFC North by virtue of having the better division record.
Sign Nick Collins
Without Aaron Rouse, the only safeties we have to replace him are Derrick Martin and Jarrett Bush. I will be covering the latter further down the list. Show that you really will use the cap room to keep the best talent.
Replace Chad Clifton
Draft or sign a new left tackle that can start right away. It is clear that Chad Clifton is breaking down, and I am not confident that anyone else is ready to protect the franchise quarterback.
Give Up on Justin Harrell
All three years he has been hurt, and we are wasting money on him when tightwad Ted Thompson claims there is no money to resign other players.
Give Up on Jarrett Bush
I know he can play cornerback, safety and on special teams, but he is not good at any of them. Replace him instead of hoping Will Blackmon, Al Harris and Brandon Underwood do not suffer injuries that make them miss time.
Give Up on Pat Lee
If he gets hurt again, we do not want to make the same mistake with him we are making with Harrell. If it happens again, it would be the third time he has missed most of a season with injury.
Sign a Defensive Tackle
Johnny Jolly will likely face prison time for felony drug possession (But hey, we can always hope a Packers' fan is the judge like the Vikings' fan who allowed Pat and Kevin Williams to avoid suspension).
Do not make the mistake of thinking someone on the roster can replace him or that we can make it without an extra lineman to rotate in.
Get to the Bottom of the Repeated Injury Problems
Last season you blamed the strength and conditioning coach, but the problem persists. Maybe it is time to look at the field conditions at home, as evidenced by the higher ratio of injuries at Lambeau Field. We need to get that solved.
Upgrade Special Teams Personnel
Enough is enough. Upgrade the special teams, particularly the kickers.
Replace Special Teams Coaches
There is no reason to believe the personnel is fully to blame, and it is the coaches responsibility to get more out of the personnel.
Last year, Shawn Slocum was promoted to coordinator when the previous one was fired. It's time to realize no one on this staff is capable of getting it done and look to the outside for help.
