According to ESPNChicago.com the Cubs have found their new center fielder in Marlon Byrd. It was said that the deal is for 3 years and worth 15 million.

Byrd had a career year last year with the Rangers hitting .283 with 20 home runs and 89 RBIs.

He works well with Rudy Jaramillo who is the Cubs' new hitting coach. So we might see better numbers next year then he had in 09.

The Cubs are still in talks with people though. Jim Hendry is still looking for another starter or maybe a long relief guy. The Cubs are also looking for a fourth outfielder.

The team has had some conversations with the agent of pitcher Jose Contreras, and have talked with Colorado about outfielder Ryan Spilborghs.

We still dont know about Reed Johnson, alot of Cubs fans and Ted Lilly would like to see Reed back next year.
