Who Is Ready To Take the Big Ten Basketball Title?

This year's Big Ten basketball season is poised to be one of the best in recent memory. The Purdue Boilermakers are undefeated and have been ranked at the top of the polls since the start of the season.

Michigan State, who played for the national championship last year, returns three of its starters and Big Ten Player of the Year Kalin Lucas.

All five players selected to the All-Big Ten First-Team return this season. More than half of the teams in the Big Ten have spent time in the top 25 or have received votes for the honor.

Last year, Michigan State won the Big Ten title at 15-3. The next eight teams were separated by three games with Purdue and Illinois at 11-7, Northwestern at 8-10, and Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan in between.

This year will likely be another tight log jam in the Big Ten, as nine teams believe that they have the ability to make it to the NCAA tournament.

Below is a breakdown on the teams competing for the Big Ten crown. Players identified as in the rotation for each team are players who average more than 15 minutes a game. The scoring average of each player in the rotation for each team is also provided.
