NASCAR: Sprint Cup Drivers Should Concentrate on Cup Races

Mike DiMauroSenior Writer IJune 21, 2008

I feel that the drivers of the Sprint Cup should stay in the Sprint Cup, because you have regulars in both the Nationwide Series and Trucks that are trying to win the championship in those two series.

I can understand the rookies or the second year Sprint Cup drivers like A.J. Allmindinger or David Reutimann racing in the lower series because they are trying to become better drivers in the Sprint Cup series, but not the pros like Carl Edwards or Kyle Busch.

In the past few years, I have seen Sprint Cup drivers winning championships in the lower series and not giving the regulars in the series a chance to win those championships.

Can I ask, where are the days of when Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Martin Truex Jr. winning those championships two years in a row before moving on to the Cup series? I have a feeling those days are gone forever!

Where can I comment?
